What the press say about Southamptons garage sensations.....
SINGLE OF THE MONTH
"They've been compared to The White Stripes. What a joke. The Hives? Ha, eat this Swedish ones. Thee Exciters supercede their name to deliver three songs of jumped up rock that strangles you to pay attention with a smile on your face. Johnnys Too Messed Up is the killer A-side recalling Bleach-era Nirvana without the schlock rock sway. Out of my Hands is a joyous riff-fest doused with Paul Le-Brock's sing/speak style with clashes brilliantly with the 1-2-3-4 stomp. Mummies Little Boy is a trounced up Mod tune, like The Kingsmen running riot around a nightclub. The Ordinary Boys and Razorlight have got some serious competition, with these guys not trading on the glories of faded decades, but having definite talent. Thee Exciters are this months rock'n'roll real deal."

"As a live act they got it all going on - raw 60s garage punk with big fuzz guitar, pounding drums, and a deranged singer, real entertainment!"
ARTROCKER MAG, www.artrocker.com
"Originality counts for nothing in the world of garage-rock. Thee Exciters don't add any twists. They just play perfect, undiluted, raucous and life-affrming rock'n'roll! Thee Exciters are absolutely fucking superb - one of my favourite bands around at the moment."

"The rest of Southampton’s Exciters may be a lot younger than my old brother-in-arms, but he doesn’t hold these kids back. Oh no. In fact, the influence of Lee ‘Ain’t Gonna Miss Ya’ Tea’ is all over this disc. Taking a nod back to the heavy Detroit sounds of Thee Hypnotics’ fuzz (‘Johnny’s Too Messed Up’. ‘Revolution Stone’ anyone?), 80’s garage (with lotsa fuzz) and modern celebs like The Hives and The White Stripes Thee Exciters stand out from the crowd of other garage wannabees. Why? Because they’re educated. Know the sound… and know where they wanna come from. The guitar is rockin’!!! And throwing in some classic ‘60s garage elements – the stuff us old hounds were raised on – into the punky equation, The Exciters seem to be as their name suggests… So: not a bunch of dildos after all."

" Thee Exciters are from Southampton, UK. I don't know what's happening with UK bands, but everything I got lately from the island sounds very exciting. Thee Exciters are great. They play raw 60s garage punk with groovy rhythm, great guitar riffs and cool screamy garage vocal. I like this combination - they have something of late 80s UK indie scene mixed with 80s garage sound. Don't get me wrong Exciters are raw band - very raw!!! I hope we'll hear more from this great band!

"Thee Exciters are responsible for some fuzzed out and fucked up garage rock. Perhaps capable of giving the Lords of Altamont a run for their money, were they not on the other side of the globe. I like these English lads. They’ve got a good sound, good sense of style, similar attitude as the early Makers stuff. I got my eye on these guys. Please raise the flag should they decide to come play in the states. MG"

First up on the bill were Southampton's Thee Exciters, playing a good set of straight-ahead garage rock originals mixed with a few covers. Their cover of 'Have Love Will Travel' was absolutely ace, in fact, and was a particular highlight. Thee Exciters possess possibly one of the most charismatic singers I have seen in a long time, and his Jagger-esque dance moves were thoroughly entertaining. They're definitely ones worth seeing again.

thee EXCITERS "Johnny's Too Messed Up" (Delincuentes 7in EP), If Slade had a child and gave up for adoption to the New Bomb Turks it would sound a whole lot like thee EXCITERS. (Delincuentes) wkm

I really like the new wave of UK garage punk. I was little bit tired of Billy Childish and similar bands. Real Losers, Hells, Unchayned, Mighty Stars are real refreshment, not only for UK, but for garage scene in general. Thee Exciters are one more cool band. I guess they are from London, as the songs were recorded there. You probably remember the review of their demo CD, well this 45 is a bit different - more garage with great fuzz riffs and drummer with good groove. Vocal is a bit less screamy and more angry. Anyway, Thee Exciters are getting better. 3 tracks - all 3 real killers. My fave is "Mummy's Little Boy". Production is cool - Thee Exciters found their own sound. I heard from a friend they were great live too. Contact these guys and get this 7"!!!!

MOST LIKE THE STOOGES AND THE CRAMPS
Thee Exciters,
THEE EXCITERS (UK) are fronted by a guy wearing nothing but a jacket and a pair of pink knickers. Competent and noisy enough, they made no secret about their one and only influence (The Stooges), but short changed on the swagger and arrogance. Nice that they were followed by Furdelux, though, more removed a band I couldn’t imagine.
Beat Bespoke reveiw - 2005 (god knows who)
No organ solos for our next guests, Thee Exciters, but no matter, “Johnny’s Too Messed Up” to notice. Instead, he’s got other things on his mind, like how four lads from Southampton make such a joyful racket, conjuring up mentors like The Milkshakes on “Mummy’s Little Boy” with its pop sensibilities, or 80’s garage stalwarts The Miracle Workers on “Out Of Our Hands” with its fuzzed–out bottom end and mid–tempo bounce. Apparently with ease, as at least one member of this gang has been at this for quite a while, moonlighting in other acts like The Hoodwinks (resulting in Vancouver’s ska outfit changing their name and style), so now you know who to thank or throw tomatoes at, your choice. Either way, this is good times. (Delicuentes Records, delicuentesrecords@aol.com

Should any of you have the misfortune to have tickets to see a band called Thee Exciters, please burn them now. The tickets, I mean, although the band could do with a bit of a singeing, too.
Aside from the piss-poor Iggy Pop rip-off songs (and a couple of Iggy Pop covers done so badly they just sounded like piss-poor rip-offs) their defining feature is their excruciatingly awful frontman. Writhing round with his top off and his scraggy hair pulled over his face, he clearly thought he was the incarnation of both Kurt and Iggy but in fact he wasn't even up to Ewan McGregor in Velvet Goldmine standard. It was knuckle-gnawingly embarrassing.
Anonymous forum review, but very amusing and true. 2005
(www.delincuentesrecords.bravehost.com) The Gimp
